Training & Technical Assistance

IHRC offers training and technical assistance to public and private institutions, including:

federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies; corrections departments; state and county public health departments; homelessness service providers; substance use treatment centers; community-based organizations; churches; and support groups such as AA / NA.

Integrating Harm Reduction Principles and Practices into Organizations

This training introduces participating organizations to harm reduction and focuses on incorporation of harm reduction theory and strategies into the organization. A focus is placed on exploring the evidence-base for harm reduction strategies. Training is tailored to each individual organization and includes development of strategic planning for the organization’s integration of harm reduction practices into current services.

Opioid Overdose Prevention and Naloxone Distribution

Staff of participating organizations are trained to administer naloxone, train their clients to administer naloxone, distribute free naloxone to their clients, and monitor and evaluate naloxone distribution.
